When we started working with the Soccer Mom’s team, the core idea was already defined, but the product direction was still open. The challenge was to shape a peer-to-peer marketplace that could work for different user roles, often buyers and sellers at the same time, within a women-only environment and a broader circular economy context.

Together with the client, Plum helped define the foundations of the product, focusing on how people would realistically use the platform. Research and benchmarking informed key decisions around onboarding, posting items, browsing, matching, and communication flows, ensuring the experience remained clear and enjoyable for a wide and diverse audience with different motivations, habits, and levels of familiarity with digital marketplaces.

The product was designed mobile-first from the beginning, following the client’s vision for a native-first experience. The platform was structured to support an initial launch state while keeping scalability in mind, allowing new capabilities to be added progressively as the business evolves.

Trust-related considerations were built into the system at a foundational level, aligned with the requirements of a women-only marketplace and the sensitivities of the context, without introducing unnecessary complexity at the initial stage.

The result is a first product version, released as a mobile app for iOS and Android. Built on a solid foundation, the platform supports early usage while remaining flexible enough to evolve as the product and business continue to take shape.
